At the university level, scientific research activity is coordinated by the Senate Committee for Scientific Research and is carried out on the basis of specific Regulation, being coordinated by one of the Vice-Rectors. The Committee, based on the policy of the university, sets the strategic objectives of the activity, the manner in which the research will be carried out within the university and the funding of the research activity. Based on the research strategy, the faculties develop their own multi-annual and annual strategic research plans, which are coordinated and followed by the deans. As well as this, the committee elaborates, on the basis of faculty proposals, the annual plan of scientific research activities within E.U.B.

At the moment, there is the Research centre of the Faculty of Ecology and Environmental protection, accredited by CNSIS, and two other centres, of the Economics and Law Faculties, are in the process of accreditation. As well as this, UEB has been enrolled in the RPC-2 Register of Potential Contractors since 2008.
